Issy & Fin

My Story...
Welcome to Issy&Fin, this is the story behind my art and my shop. I’ve always had a firm love of creating, and before being blessed with my two children Isabel and Finley I had a career as a make up artist working for a major brand. One of the things I loved the most in my job was working with colour, colour theory and understanding how using one colour would instantly make another more vibrant and stand out.
Since leaving the make up industry one of my biggest privileges is watching my children's love of creating grow. I soon rekindled my love of drawing, first with some pencil sketches quickly followed by charcoal, watercolour and then calligraphy as we journeyed through lots of arts and crafts together.
In the summer of 2020 my beautiful best friend Faye was sadly re-diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer at the tender age of 34. Faye began to write a popular blog named Return of the Beast that documented her diagnosis and fundraised for a local breast cancer charity. Faye asked for some meaningful art and quotes to be made into merchandise to raise money to support other ladies and their families in similar situations, so I supported her by creating some artwork. This was the first time I had ever put anything I created ‘out there’. The merchandise went down a storm and the charity even reproduced the products to continue to raise money for the charity.
Sadly in the winter of 2021 we received the devastating news that Faye’s cancer had become terminal. Among many discussions we shared that final year, Faye in her lovable direct way said “if you’re good at something please don’t let it go to waste, do something with it!”. So that was the start of Issy&Fin.
Working from my home studio in the seaside town of Leigh-On-Sea, Essex. Its my biggest hope to create some meaningful art illustrations that capture memories, fill you with nostalgia and bring a smile!
Thank you for taking the time to read a little about me.
Kindest Wishes
